- "I just loved him," Mum answered. She looked nervous saying it. She was clearly reliving those old feelings and it brought back the shy and giggly girl who had a crush on her father. "I was in love with him, even from a young age. I knew it was different to how my friends talked about their dads. I decided to tell Mum about it and she didn't just listen to me, but she heard what I was saying. I was a child then, so it was nothing to worry about. She talked me through my feelings and tried to help me get over it. But it never went away."

She was over the initial shock, and it felt like she was getting something positive out of talking about this. "I went through all the phases of puberty and silly teenage dating but none of it compared. It wasn't like we were talking about it all the time, but she was always there when I was having another flare up of silly fantasies. I had a boyfriend when I was 17. It wasn't serious but for a while it felt as if I was moving on and we didn't talk about it anymore. Then I turned 18 and the boyfriend was soon gone and there was only one man for me. I told her about it and I was an adult now so it was different. I was obsessed with the idea. I almost went about it the wrong way."
